Products and Services

Description
Bay Insulation's faced MBI fiberglass is a resilient, flexible fiberglass blanket laminated to a high quality vapor retarder facing. It is the most common product used for insulating pre-engineered metal buildings.

Faced fiberglass can be installed as a single layer, or combined with unfaced MBI fiberglass and various support hardware to create a "High R-Value System."

NAIMA
NAIMA 202-96® fiberglass metal building insulations are blanket insulations engineered specifically for metal building construction. These insulations are certified by NAHB to meet the 202-96 Standard for Flexible Fiberglass used in Metal Buildings and are "over engineered" to withstand the rigors of facing, lamination and handling that occurs during installation. Bay uses NAIMA 202-96 fiberglass when laminating R-10, R-11,R-13, R-16 and R-19.

NIA
The NIA standard provides a basis for quality control procedures for laminators and for certifying post-laminated R-Value. For a list of Bay Insulation plants that have met the NIA (National Insulation Association) standard for "Certified Faced Insulation" click on locations.

Underwriters Laboratories (UL)

UL
With over 21 billion products in the marketplace, Underwriters Laboratories has been one of the most recognized and trusted resources for product safety, certification and information. All Bay Insulation metal building laminating plants produce faced product that is Listed to applicable UL Standards and requirements by Underwriters Laboratories Inc. Custom Lamination and Packaging
Every order is custom laminated to fit your building dimensions and criteria. Each roll is individually tagged to identify its intended location in the building roof, sidewalls, and endwalls.

Tab Options
Facing tabs are provided for sealing side joints between adjoining rolls of faced fiberglass. Bay offers several options:

Tab Method Description
Double 3"
Staple Tabs
Facing tabs from 2 adjoining rolls are pulled together between fiberglass joint and stapled with a long-nosed staple pliers.
Single 6"
No-Staple Tab
First roll of insulation is installed with 6" tab as leading edge. Next roll is nested over tab from first roll.
Single 6"
"Reinforced"
No-Staple Tab
Mylar reinforcement is added at 6" tab to provide rigidity.
Single 6"
"Self-Adhering"
No-Staple Tab
An adhesive strip with removable backer is added at 6" tab for adhering tab to adjoining roll.
Double 12" or 15" Tabs For use with double fiberglass layer "High R-Value" systems. Tabs from adjoining purlin spaces are lapped together over purlin.

Facings
Faced MBI Fiberglass is available with a variety of facing finishes. Vapor Retarder facings reduce the flow of interior moisture to the fiberglass and metal siding, protect the fiberglass, and provide an attractive interior finish for the building.

Description
To meet the always increasing demand for higher R-values, Bay offers a complete line of "High-R Systems":

System Description
BayMax® The most thermally efficient system available for metal buildings. Lightweight BayMax® Insulated liner panel is attached at underside of purlins using TEK screws. A single layer of unfaced MBI fiberglass backfills the purlin cavity. Several joint treatment options are available. Provides a clean, smooth , finished appearance.
Banded System Faced fiberglass is installed parallel and between purlins with long tabs lapped over top of purlins. Unfaced MBI is used as backfill to completely fill the purlin cavity. The system is supported with metal banding installed perpendicular at underside of purlins and attached with TEK screws. Economical and efficient.
High-Rider SystemTM Faced fiberglass is installed parallel and between purlins with long tabs lapped over top of purlins. Unfaced MBI is used as backfill to completely fill the purlin cavity. The system is supported with fabric strapping installed perpendicular at underside of purlins. Insulated purlin caps at bottom of purlins improve thermal performance and appearance. Attractive and efficient.
Insul-BarTM Used mainly as a retrofit system for existing buildings. Faced MBI fiberglass is installed parallel and between purlins. Insul-BarTM hat channel supports are placed across underside of purlin spaces to support fiberglass. No special tools required.
Insul-BasketTM Faced fiberglass is installed parallel and between purlins with long tabs lapped over top of purlins. Unfaced MBI is used as backfill to completely fill the purlin cavity. Each bay uses 2 pre-assembled Insul BasketsTM per purlin space to support fiberglass system. Installs quickly and easily, completely from topside.
